I'm not a diesel hater! I just don't like 4 cylinder ones or the installation in the back of a T3 with it's too-few set of gear ratios for motoring in the 21st century.

If it weren't for the price of fuel these days and the torque limitations of the 094 transmission, who would honestly choose that rattling boat anchor over, say. a 2.5 Subaru or an I5 or a V6 Audi petrol?

I loved my 2.5 TDi Allroad It would do close to 40 mpg if I drove like Miss Daisy, never less than 28 if I drove like a loon which is pretty good for a 2000kg awd estate car but...it had 6 well spaced ratios (x2 with the low range) which made it a joy to drive. The servicing and depreciation got scary so it had to go

Anyway, I've worked on one and it won't be the last time; but they're not not for me, thanks all the same
