sorry, just seen this. i haven't paid yet. i swapped a few emails with him and all was good more sets were getting made. But its gone quite now. I am now likely to get some made up in steel

Cut a bucket in half, then get a big tub of evostik.....

Don't forget, those vents let heat and fumes out (principally). Put your head near them after a run and you'll see what I mean. They offer little in terms of cooling on a watercooled but they do circulate the air in the engine bay. Its really the Aircooled models that benefiit most from rear vents and why they were put there in the first place. No harm in glitzing it up though if you want a different look.

Whilst we're talking vents. In the rear of my bus directly below these vents, rain water collects. This is now in the early stages of causing rust. Enough to cause the underseal to peal on the junction where the tray meets the outer arch is now showing the evil rust. I am considering drilling addional holes to let the rainwater out. So far I've poured new engine oil over the tray hoping to slow the rust. Any suggestions from experienced owners with the same issue?

Quite a few owners report a drip into the vents as water runs off the gutters (best time to see is when its raining steadily). Some even put on a small plastic tie towards the bottom of the grills which helps guide the water away. The tie can be cut down slightly but It would seem logical to stop the water finding its way in easily rather than trying to mop up. Might be worth your while investigating and see if you can devise a more permanent solution then make right any damage.

This follows my findings on the area behind the front bumper (notoriously a swimming pool and rots out lower panel) which can be almost cured simply by drilling through the top and bottom of bumper, inserting a pipe that is flush at the top, welded and smoothed, which then allows water to drain away rather than collect and cause damage.

Had the T25 stayed in production longer, these traps would have been discovered and modifications made but certainly with the major rust traps, some owners including myself, usually make changes to mitigate future problems.

A length of the magnetic strip from out of an old fridge seal works a treat to deflect the water that runs down from the gutter. Almost looks factory too I reckon.

Best fix I think I've seen.

I wish I could take the credit - I saw it first on PaulG's van at Bustypes this Spring. Like washing machines, scrap fridges often turn up at the end of people's drives - didn't take long to find one.
