If your driving in the dark and you come to low over head branches you can see if you are going to hit them. If you come to a steep climb you can see what it's like up the hill and over the hill if it's a small one. If your driving in an area of low bush you can see over the low bush. I could go on but of course they would have to turn them on for them to work.

Because it looks cool! I think that having a roof basket on the rear kinda looks out of place on its own but the light bar continues the lines right to the front helping to make it look like part of the vehicle.
