that is a nice job mike
when you joddled the top does it try to deform the panel or did the swage in it help it stay true?

Well been a bit off and down with something or other anyhow piled into the front again this aft and finnished removing this

this could be blasted and a new piece added, not a particularly difficult task but there is a better way and it definately doesnt involve an aftermarket arch.
now we can cut back the bad bit

theres not much left of the side of the B post, yes it could be blasted and i could fashion a new side etc if I really had to so another soloution will be found . you can see the jp support piece inside , i make and supply a longer version that is dead easy to weld in, if you are ever doing this job do NOT leave this out as the majority of the jp strength is gained by this added part
closer up

there will be another picky at bthe end but it would spoil the story to show it now.....
enter my spare,,,, looks fiercewr than it really is and no H & S in sight , we do stuff the quick way well i was in a hurry

not for the faint hearted, there are more flaming picks but this is a familly forum and not all are fire lovers....
this shows the jp support rather nicely

and i have now got this

it is quite good really

this specialist product arrived for it

and this is cooking up as we speak

and my new pond is coming alive

with loads of budding slug eaters

so that was the late afternoon done with , will get the lot welded together after pulling it appart in the morning

I like the mix of work, pleasure, philosophy and love of food! Marvellous stuff- I can feel a MM radio four short series in the pipeline, vans, life, jam, electronic communities......and a quick snap of my new rear seat material.

Great work, I too am loving following this thread of your fabrication. How much notice do you need Mike if I were to require your services? Could plan a visit to the UK, stay with family while you play with Flint. I can supply you with photos of the areas that need addressing.

well back into more enjoyable bits , cut all the rusty bits of the B post

the cut i have is larger but there is no point cutting back more unless its to aid an easier /neater join.
so this is all that remains and all that needs adding here

there are repair panals for the lower B post but the metal they're made from is a touch thin, where this is only the side and edge that has gone it would have been as easy to make a piece from scratch
inner part held and being marked out to let in , I try and avoid patching where practical though in some areas is ok and indeed preferable

so spotted onto the flange and gassed down the join, at least the gas keeps the place warmer

you can see the remnants of the se=spotting , these are a touch thin and normally wouldnt matter but as the same arch panal is rejoining then I build these areas up a touch to accept migging

I also made a new very bottom bit for the arch as the last 1/2 was suspect, now all done and on

paint blown into the seams , there is a little planishing to do but I like to do all of this at the end, so now there is just the os step to attend to, i will repair this to look as original as its not that bad.
