would a digi aerial pick up digital tv in euro land?

Gooday, Re all the discussion on the use of 12v tellys / dvd's can any minds of wisdom - to which I doth my cap - confirm if it is good practice to just take a cable - preferably fuse protected - from a Zig unit or from a leisure battery straight to the tv, only I read somewhere on t'interweb that strange things can happen with the battery supply and the tv and or battery can fail. Do we need to install some kind of d.c. voltage regulator to ensure that the voltage remains constant? Once again thanks in anticipation for all comments.

With my old telly, I plugged it into a 12Volt socket (the cigarette lighter type) which was fed from a Power Management System (similar to a Zig unit) which was fused. The socket also contains it's own fuse. I think I've read somewhere that some tellies come with a regulator of some sort to protect it.

You can safely plug it straight into an output from the ZIG, or go to the battery. Have an in line fuse and MAKE SURE you get your +ve and -ve the right way round, as getting it wrong even for a thousandth of a second will damage the TV.

The only other thing to watch out for is not to run your leisure battery down below around a reading of 12 volts, that can seriously shorten it's life. so has anyone actually got one of those cello tvs ? i bought a led19" from asda and its got an inline 240/12 v tranny but im a bit worried about energy consumption and irregular voltage coming from the lesuire bat which can be as low as 11v or as high as 14 so im looking at the cello which costs a bit more but is designed for the job ,just wondering what the viewing angle is like?

bought from Asia on eBay for about £120 I think. It's 12v and has a built in DVD player, USB & SD card inputs as well as 2 lots of AV inputs via phono connectors. We use it in conjunction a mains free view box & amplified aerial. Sound goes to the stereo via an FM channel. Works an absolute dream! There are loads on eBay at the moment

Go on Sean, E D I T that so we know which one you have (We are looking for one with specs like that, i.e. audio in and sound out on a radio channel, USB input etc)
