im not sure if you can make it out in this video but its as if its misfiring while accelerating, you can here the normal acceleration sound kick in at 32 seconds for like a split second than it goes back to misfire.

if it's a miss then might it be a coil pack breaking down ?

yeah thats what i thought its weird how it suddenly developed to this after cleaning the MAF, maybe i fudged the maf and that is giving me a misfire. bugger.

Cleaning spray did nothing in my case. Maybe the coil is a bit past it's best under full load. I have done the throttle pot/switch setting several times, so throttle pedal link wear might come into it?

i get full throttle on pedal. im thinking of just replacing the whole lot! i have a turbo engine in the garage but it was a hasty buy. I dont have a turbo for it or the correct ecu. Been looking at ej2.5's. i wonder how much the wiring is different, could i get away with what i have already, dont really want to rewire it all. plopsville

ok just had a quick look at the van, checked to see if i am getting any fault codes so i put the greens together and start the engine, the led on the ecu just flashes, no codes. So i put the black ones together and turn the ignition, no change the ecu just flashes constantly. Sooooo i unplug the blacks and turn the ignition on and off and on again and look at the ecu.....it still just flashes. So what does this mean? is it wired in wrong? are the self diagnostic greens not wired in? i dunno.
Also i tried driving without the maf connected, i still get crazy detonations when accelerating!
Also im not sure but i think the fuel pump is making a louder nose than usual, i cant be certain but maybe. What a "pooh" kicker.
so do i change the
maf? 100$ or
fuel pump 60 $
or coil and leads 100$
$= pounds (american laptop)
