I have exhausted all investigations on the Main +ve and -ve connections, I am confident that they are all very good. The mounting bracket has been cleaned on all faces to ensure good contact.

Checking the blue wire, It's currently producing only .3v when the ignition is on. 0v when the ignition is off. Certainly not 12v.

I'll trace it through and see what I can find.

Is this with the blue wire OFF the alternator, if so you are well on your way

I am pleased to report progress!!

The charge indication/activation circuit leaves the instrument cluster on pin 11/blue cable, it drops to the fuse box where it splits to the Alternator (via the junction box in the engine bay) and also to spade pin at the rear of the fusebox. In my westfalia joker this is picked up and wired to a relay under the drivers seat for lesuire facilties (fridge etc). Disconnecting the feed to the lesuire relay corrects the problem. Fire it up and the charge indication light goes out an we see > 14v on the meter. RESULT!

On the relay I found that the blue wire is piggy backed with another blue wire that continues to the appliances (I am 99% the fridge) testing this wire confirms the on-going blue wire is dropping to eath somewhere.

So it seems that my Alternator woes are caused by the fridge! Indeed the problem is also resolved If I set the fridge to "on battery" , Fridge off = not charging, Fridge on
= charging.

I'll investigate the fridge another day, but to be honest I am somewhat surprised nobody suggested turning the fridge ON as a fix.

At least I now have 2 spare 90amp alternators! Oh, and a regulator pack!

Could also have tried turning the gas on I suppose!
