anyone use owotrol paint conditioner with the rustoleum?

claims to help it flow etc , ive just bought some and it seems good stuff so far

Sounds a good idea. Somewhere in the commentary I think I mention paint retarders (may have vanished in post-editing) but a slightly longer drying time, which is what it would create, would be a bonus sometimes. Again, a lot depends on ambient temperature, how much thinners etc but theoretically with a retardent, the paint should flow better. Downside could be runs or more opportunity for bugs life to wreak havoc but an extra five or ten minutes could make all the difference.

it has a few other intresting claims

you can use it neat to soak into any rust /seams , says its thinner than water so should get into anywhere

due to its thin/creeping nature the mixed paint will soak into every last microscopic pit etc , making it stick even better

i tried a drop with a brush , while its super brusable it didnt seem to effect the overall curing time noticbly

Given the problems incurred described elsewhere I find that I'm leaning towards the roller paintjob for sheer affordability. I've been reading the wiki section and looking at the Youtube vids with great interest. Has anyone done a metallic paintjob and then how many coats of lacquer did you apply. This route definitely seems to be the answer for me being a poor plumber. Unless ofcourse a sprayer would like a boiler change in exchange? Rob the ever hopeful.

You can if you throw glitter at it when wet and then clear coat it after.

or sand for that textured look

quick question when ordering rustoleum combicolour, is everyone using satin or gloss finish on their vans? regards.

Gloss mostly as far as I know. If you make a bad job of it, you'll get silk anyway

ive painted some combi over upol seam sealer ..its staying sticky after 6 days , its dry enough not to mark your finger but seems sticky

anyone have this prob does it go off eventualy?

i think it should go off eventually, how about a bit of heat gun set to low? seam sealer is paintable.

Yep I have the same problem, I let the seam sealer set for about a week and then painted over with Rustoleum and four days later its still very sticky over the seam sealer. Its a real pain because dust is sticking all over it. The seam sealer I used was Dinitrol Brushseal. The cure time of the seam sealer is like one day per 3mm thickness, so it should have been well cured in a week.

The only thing I can think of is that although the seam sealer may have seemed dry, it had some moisture still within it and for that reason, its keeping the paint wet. No idea what you can do other than heat as suggested. Sealer has its own properties and I'm just musing here but i imagine if you painted plastercine it would do the same until (and if) every ounce of moisture was gone. Maybe asking the sealer manufacturers would glean something? Other than that, perhaps leaving some of the sealer exposed would help and touch in these areas with a fine brush later?

it sat overnight so the sealer was pretty much dry after 24hrs

ive seen it before , i think its just not fully compatible ..hoping it will go hard eventualy

next time im going to just brush a bit of rattle can primer or something over the sealer to make a barrier

Mine had some UPOL acid etch primer over the seam sealer, don't know if that could have contributed to the problem or not.
