First job on the list complete. Pictures courtesy of Jim Painter. Nearly the entire surround was rusty at some point but all looks nice now. Ready for the window.

Was it easy to do the b pillar repair, did you have to cut much of the surround panels to get to it.
Cheers dazz

I'm afraid I didn't do this bit of work. It is in the safe hands of Jim Painter.

I do believe this is the last of the bodywork finished :D just a couple of windows to go in on the other side then onto the running (and stopping) gear. On the road for summer? Now, where did I put those head lights?

Cheers. I will be rollering it. Probably orange and cream, a bit like the Devon colours.

I find threads like this both inspiring and quite scary. Just starting on mine and cant weld and have no experience whatsoever. I know its rusty in some of the places that have snowballed into huge repairs for you. I'm just hoping its not as bad as it will cost more than I can afford :(

Just find it inspiring not scary and you'll be right :)

I'm 4 years down the line and only just looking like I may get it sorted. I decided to go back to the tent but really fancy the ability to travel easily and see different places. Money is the obvious issue but I've convinced the mrs to help out! I always expected the bodywork to require a lot of work. What I didn't forsee was the work that will be needed on the brakes, suspension and general running gear areas. (What is yours like 'mines w money pit?) I started some of this myself but soon realised I was out of my depth.

Anyway, I am lucky enough to have found someone that is doing a great job on it now. And with a bit of luck I may be in for the start of the camping season :)

Good luck to anyone who is doing their van up. Mine probably won't give me back what I've put it cash wise. However, I plan to keep this and you never know live in it one day!

All work carried out by a novice and someone that did bodywork at college 30 odd years ago.

Round the windows are the worst and hardest to get right.
