Blue one between the tubes.
... and I think clockwise, but you can always check by looking at the rotor arm on the dizzy to make sure it's following the firing order 1-4-3-2

yes clockwise
if you want to check you could put it in gear and push the van and watch which way it moved

Black or green gaskets for inlet or both? And if both which goes on top?

I’m reconnecting my starter motor but I’m not sure of the wiring. Is this correct- 2 leads to the positive terminal?

Why not..... one from the alternator, the other from the battery.

A bit more progress today amidst plenty of tap and die work. Exhaust pipes fitted, coolant lines and thermostat fitted, (early thermostat housing doesn't fit well with the late exhaust on that slde)
but that's an early exhaust?

Thanks Paul. The exhaust may be early but the pipes fitted to the head are a bit different and have a ridge on them that almost touches the thermostat housing making it difficult to assemble. There was much more clearance on the old pipes.

probably but a quick visual check is worth it becuse anybody could have changed rthe wiring.
As standard there is a big lead from battery that goes to starter then a smaller lead from starter to alternator so there will be two on the starter.

Thanks Paul. I did a continuity check and confirmed that it runs to the alternator.
