hehe yes - and I was getting strange looks from the kids and the other half!

Have just started preping the bus for painting, but it's going to be a long job (lots of filling to be done first! ). I was thinking about doing it one panel at a time, although that might take me the rest of my life. I've just ordered the DVD to hopefully make things easier.

Will post some pics when I get a bit more done.

We mention about doing single panels on the DVD so that should help.

anyone know what colour best matches the dark royal blue type colour you see on the T5s. I've always really liked that colour. In the middle of prepin my van shouldn't take too long van is very straight and rust free thankfully!

I don't know if it's been mentioned before but, somewhere in all this mass of great info about rollering your van it mentions using old sealable food containers to keep the thinned paint and used roller in between putting on the coats. I thought it worth saying that you should avoid the plastic types with click lids such as you find in Asda or Lakeland plastics as the paint (or the thinners) distorts the plastic lid in very quick time (a matter of days).

It means that, once you take the lid off you cannot get it back on as it will have bent so much. It can also (as I found out) bend so much that a gap appears in the seal so that the paint has dried out by the time you get back to it.

Far better than the plastic containers are glass "preserves" jars (the sort that people put pickles or jams in). These are available from places like Lakeland or even M&S for about £3. Make sure you get one with a glass lid as well (some cheap ones are plastic - TK Max!). If you get the 1 litre size you can keep plenty of paint in there and several rollers as well, well soaked in paint and ready for the next time it stops raining

I've stored my "spare" paint and rollers in one of these for several weeks now and there has been no leaking or drying out at all.

Now, does anyone need half a dozen sealable plastic food containers? I have some spare!

Spot on tip Richard. Very true regarding plastic boxes - they do distort. Rob and I have mixed paint in an old white spirit container and that worked well too.

Sam, I too looked at 5022 - more like a tardis blue I think but you should check chart for accuracy or try to guage RAL colours on charts with those vehicles shown in WIKI so you know whether its too light or too dark judging by your monitor. The RAL chart they send is great.

Overnight, with care, you can wrap the whole tray and roller in clingfilm, its an art, watch you don't end up with your hand wrapped in with it all too

PS. Rustoleum said they'd run out of colour swatches when I applied for one...

We've probably exhausted them

You can also lay cling film in trays so you can clean them out easy too Stick the roller in a plastic bag when not using it although I find they get toffee-like after a while anyway.
