good work there james , have a few on me mate, greedy arent you , you didnt have to fit the whole length of reinforcer, I just made it that way in case, but as you have the outer off then why not, , its a good npicky to show how the load is carried and thus transmitted up , rain tommorow so have a day off.

cause I only have access to the front of the reinforcement plate I thought it would be better to get the whole thing in with welds through the front , belt and braces so to speak. A certain area of my person was twitching when I jacked it up the first time .

What you reckon to the other hole in the corner of the arch / b-post area? Karmann konections in southend had a breaker but I rang them and its long gone now so got to find another one if i go down that route

Looking at it, i would have been in no doubt that it would and indeed does carry the weight, nice satisfying feeling tghat is.
right the other hole, see the horizontal line just a bit below the hole, well thats the join and thats where I would join, cut it off here and retain some of the fold of the B post, 1/4 will do but 1/2" better, then make a piece to fit behind the 1/2" lip and behind the lower horizontal cut youive made , please yourself what you do with the rest , whichever is easiest, doing it this way means you dont have any extra metal to interfere with the new arch panal, mind you these are of such poor quality that I doubt it would hinder much

This hole was another b******s moment , but the rain came at just the right time . Walked away came back half an hour later and its just another hole to add to the list .

I got the jacking point done which was me aim this weekend .

Ran out of wire so nipped up halfords to get some , got another can of primer to replace the one that popped last week . Dropped the bliddy thing getting in the car, nozzle broke off. Another whole can wasted .

I got mine from A H Schofields. Its not to bad a fit , I did have to straighten out the flange at the bottom and then move it up a couple of mm to get a good fit . But that might be me being a bit to picky .

Its a little bit to wide but I once its fitted I dont think its going to notice.

You can get them else where but for the life of me I cant remember who from, the company came up in another bodywork thread.

Not a lot done this weekend due to other things going on and the poor weather, managed to get filler on and rubbed down between the showers . Finished it this morning.

Mainly concentrated on tiding up the rear arch and wing .

Bit more filler was needed on the rear wing than I would have liked but its not thick despite what it looks like









needs a bit of more work to get perfect , well pleased with the results so far.

Looks great that James Been thinking about applying the filler to mine soon or maybe leave till the rest of the welding is done. That 3rd pic helped me loads, was beginning to think the part above the rear jacking point on mine was sticking out too much but it looks pretty similar to yours. Cheers, Jon.

There was a lot of bare metal on the rear wing so I thought it was a good idea to get it finished properly and primed .

Aagh, dont rely on my panel alignment as a guide Im just working on the 'if it looks right and lines up' method

Weekends progress consisted of sorting out the un-expected hole in the b-post



After a clean up its not as bad as I thought

all repaired



My lovingly crafted angled piece that took ages to get to fit

Skim of filler and its done , now back to where I was 2 weeks ago

good work there james. not back to where you were but more like another area thast wont come back to bite you in a years time. aleways worth spending time to get a part to fit ,makes welding much easier, but I hope yopur going to run the grinder over it to 'neaten it'
make sure when you fit the new arch panal thaat you dont pull it right up to the new bit of b post as you have got it set back a bit and you would end up with a wonky seam and we dont want wonky seams do we

Have to admit its starting to take shape

The list of welding jobs left to do can now be counted on one hand

Started poking the drivers step and it is only the middle bit thats rotten so hopefully the terrors of the step repair panel may be avoided
