What happens with that wrongly fitted outrigger? Can it be made to fit, or does it have to be moved?

it can be made to fit as is or i can unpick some stuff and move it across 20 mm your call Im easy
would you like the 2 thick steel bars replacing that you had to remove to fit the cooler? they dont have to be ,but..............i think they do add strength and also protect the rad which is more important

Your choice with the outrigger, I guess as long as it's connected either end, all good. So I'll leave that up to you

Cool, I'll go with what you say on all this stuff.

Well instructions taken
first i have removed the connecting brace ,more later, and made a vertical cut where the A post inner incorrectly joins the outrigger

next a gentle push,as the outrigger is free to move a littlle withing reason there is no danger in this instance of moving the main leg

jacked up a touch, i have the van level so a simple measurement from the floor

matches the O/S now

so happy i have done a quick tack

measurement is the same as on the other side and the outrigger lines u nice with the defo panel , also it will make the washer bottle a better fit
note the position of this item on the O/S

and the other

not happy with this crappy bit

so a quick repair needed


none of this is going on just yet as i have a few other things to do here first then it will be a full weld up
now .. we look at the side, as in the fridge panel side


need a step for this

we know its had work done ,here it looks like a self made lower sill part, i say that because the aftermarket sill is actually a very decent gauge of steel and this is real thin stuff


expected this bit as had seen it prior

telltale mig plugs that havent been cleaned up

well the rear wing is coming off as it happens, just asd well as the C post etc and what else is..............

What's that part that is fixed in such different places on n/s o/s?

That inner sill is a bit cankered, will you replace it Mike?

Man! there is a lot of debris in that sill. IS it all rust or mud or something? Can't believe they left all that crap in there when they fitted a new outer sill.

they didnt fit a new outer sill,,, they bent a bit of metal up 1..2mm i think max( not in itself a bad thing to do , its just the execution of it that was a bit iffy, that said if it was a diy job then 10/10 but if the result of a paying job then not so good price dependant.) and just tacked it along the bottom , the top part of the sill where it joins the middle(fridge)panel is original but ground out and filled with pod.
err its rust and crap and stuff that has appeared since they did it as if any was in there prior (which im sure there was) then it would have dropped on the floor when they cut the old off.
will have a better dig tomoz and will remove the 16" reinforcing plates and chop the wing and such off, that will expose the extent, also im having to remove the rear of the front arch as there is rot in there and the B post will get a look as well, so basically we shall have the side opened up , will finish stripping the rear stuff out/off, heat exch'etc and see what we end up with....
as for the iunner sill , it may look worse than it is, they are very well made so will see
