I started using brillopad to get rid of all high points , then some 800 wet and dry then polish with it !!

dont use a brillo pad...it will just scratch and not help you at all , use proper wet n dry

id suggest a little finer paper to finish with like 1500 or 2000, and a bit more buffing would improve it further

ordered paint today ral 7322 1 more day of prep

Prep, prep, prep. Just remember that its 99% prep and 1% paint. Don't rush it. A wet sander is best or you'll be there all day .

All day?? I have now been prepping my van for 2 weeks and I think I'm about half way through.

Currently looks like this...






But it's now stuffed into the garage as I have to go back to work tomorrow, more prep when I get back home in 2 weeks.

I have an old nissan cabstar i bought as a non-runner (was a fuse) ive just shot blasted the chassis and about to put back together.

Looking at having a trial go on this before my Syncro . I will post the pics once i get going

i found high density rollers are the best ! the ones you would use for gloss eec

In answer to that, yes the dry brush does work with Rustoleum (tried it) but it dries much faster than Toplac and to be honest you shouldn't need it. Providing you've FULLY saturated the roller to start with, you won't need to use a brush to take out air bubbles. What the video does demonstrate very well is that you can get a great finish without spraying. I find it pays to initially run the new roller on a clean scrap panel once its loaded with paint as this helps expel any air. You'll notice that it only happens on the first go, after that you should be bubble-free. If you do get them, just use the weight of the roller only to encourage them out. We mention this in the roller video (see WIKI).

That they are. I've already done a successful first coat.

Just about to order my paint for the Syncro. Been and purchased the roller handles (2) and refills in a nice 10 pack refill kit from B&Q.

Not yet decided which shade we are going with (torn between 2 shades of orange) but it will certainly be bright as we are aiming to do the poptop as well. To do a proper job I am taking the interior out and doing the door shuts and inside round the windows etc. Sure to be a pain but I like continuity.

This thread is way to long to read it all. Some really good results on this thread but I have concerns about losing value on my van if its painted by hand

If you do a good job, it will go up in price
