Well made some changes, not happy with the roof as we pushed it outside and its toooooo shiny, looks artificial and shows all the mould marks and such from manufacture,
Image
So am going to flat it back and repaint with a matting agent so it will have a eggshell sheen more like the original, as this was gel coat coloured by sheldon
this shows the inside of the gutters and the rear corner flatted to be sure of the shade, we want it to look like an original hitop fitted to a shiny blue van whereas at present it is too much blue.
Image
and
Image
all been flatted off and primered again and this flatted down
Image
No more rust now under here
Image
ready for seam sealing
Image
Image
tailgate looks better
Image
as does the seal retaining area

Well finaly got painted and busy refitting
All the topcoat is doone with Dupont Imron elite, all baked at 70' (sorry but I think its knackered the tailgate struts
anyhow as I wasnt happy with the high gloss roof , did it again with a matting agent so now its as durable as the gloss but resembles the factory finish
Image
and
Image
and rear end
Image
camera shows different shades but dont kn ow how to set it up
Image

great refitting when its all clean and in good order.

Well again.
this is the usual really nasty bit behind slider guide
Image
rear off
Image
Slider handle has been bare metaled and finnished in the same paint and baked, this time with about 40% gloss same as the bumpers.Got to pick the masking of the lock barrel
Image
This was the badly damaged rear corner that was previously repaired
Image
rear off tailgate ready for nice vw seal and re-glazing
Image
will be glazing the rest of it in the morning and call it a day for the weekend.
should look nice once its waxed and made to be a bit shiny :rofl

|Aye James, thats why I trial fit everything and make good all the threads and stuff before painting and use a tap to clean any painted threads etc, but yes great care, some times its the silly things that cause the scratches like the screws that hold the headlamps in,whereas the slider is a simple one man ,bob it on job!
I worry more about where I park the bliddy things..

Well you could buy one for a little more!! and I could make it into a very very nice solid van probably worth more than the input cost :D
ta for comments

Well done Mike, good job we didn't christen it last weekend at the rally, the steam roller that was parked up behind us all weekend in the rain pulled off with a gert big bellow of smoke and covered the awnings in thick black soot

By the way the tail struts were on their last legs and needed replacing

Stopping over at the rally really brought it home to us as to how much luxury even a small camper like this gives you :ok

Cheers
Andy
