Mmm, I know an early Saab Turbo that returned 16.5 mpg over 375 miles 18 years ago - but then it did 'average' over 98 mph point to point

Snap! Get's expensive, 16 mpg ish, dunnit (drove back v.carefuilly and got nearly 30, empty wallet  )

Even if you factor in the 10% the speedo is out it still sucks. Goes great though.

Oh yeah forgot about the tyres....so that has got to be over 23, maybe 24 MPG. Not bad really, better than I thought.

24 would be +15% on 21

I've found my 15" 205-75 Machos just bring the speedo up to 'spot on' rather than a legally overfast indication, and the mileometer to just 2% over GPS distance.
Perhaps mileos also over-read as standard?

And perhaps till we've calibrated to the same std, we should all be a bit cautious.

I used 10 miles of fairly straight A1M and did it twice, and couldn't get a better figure than 2% (however hard i tried!), though Machos are a bit worn now.

Just back from our latest trip and been totting up the MPG

Bristol - Croatia - Bristol; just over 3000 miles and coming out at 25.07 MPG brim to brim.

1.9Tdi syncro 16 Westy Joker pop-top. Full van; Kayak and a roof rack loaded with gear up top.

Full details to follow on Clives new spreadsheet when I get a moment!

Hi Mark,

Bet you all had a great time, and where you had to hang around for a day or three was a lovely spot - hope so anyway!

Heres the trip breakdown; cant use the spreadsheet as its for Mileage ODO's; pretty much as expected at c25mpg and on the budget i set of £550 for the trip.

Is fuel generally that much more expensive in Germany or did i just happen to find the worst price?

Diesel fans will be pleased to hear that in the Netherlands unleaded was up to 1.50 a litre and diesel only 1.00 a litre. Why I dont know.

I think you just got screwed. German diesel last month was generally €1.06. Spain is €0.68 and Italy is €1.18
