T25 1.9 blower fan

Post by 84t25shed »

Hi guys I've just got myself a 1.9 petrol t25 and seem to have an electrical issue regarding the heater fan. It doesn't work there is no power to the switch, all the fuses are fine. Is there a relay for the blower fan, also the wiper fuse keeps blowing. Any help would me much appreciated

Is yours an early bullet-style fuse box or a later blade fuse type? Assuming it's the early type, then your blower motor and wiper motor are on the same fuse. Several possibilities here in that case. Is the fuse blowing or melting? If it's melting then it's possibly a fraying connection at one of the spade connectors at the fuse box. If it's blowing, then your blower motor may be seizing up with age and drawing too much current. I guess the same might apply to the wiper motor.

It's best to separate the two circuits onto different fuses, then you'll find out which one is causing the problem. Or the problem may go away because you'll be splitting the load. Information on this in the wiki.

Just noticed your username - '84 van, so early fuse box I think, which means the two circuits are on the same fuse.

The information on splitting the circuits onto different fuses is here: https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Co ... KILLS_FUSE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If its the original fan it will almost certainly be needing replacement as the older the fan gets, the more amps it draws. Do not increase the fuse rating to get over the problem whatever you do. It can lead to a fire if you're unluckly. Split wipers from blower for safety but if the blower fuse continues to go, the only solution is to fit a new fan.
