windscreen leak

I have a small windscreen leak front rt corner, I have lifted the rubber to see crunchy rust in this area. Is there a way of sealing the screen under the rubber to stop water getting in or is the only cure screen out and new rubber. The rust only goes for about 3 inches at the corner after which all looks ok.

We have just had the same issue only weren't aware of it and the hole in the floor... Caused by it! Anyway we took it to a guy for some welding and he pumped some sort of sealant into/under the seal itself and you could see the water being forced out. Well after several days of rain.... No leaks! Hope that helps

well maybe you can see a bit of rust but you wont see right to the back of it, screen out and weld a bit in or as ^^^ says fillit with gloop for now

Don't use aquatic/silicon sealant thats for sure. It never works. If you want to seal it short term use the cheap B&Q roofing sealant (black) in a big tube (under £4 I think) as it stays pliable. You can squeeze it under the lip. However, you'll be chasing your tail a bit:

Thanks for the advice sounds like I need to sAVE UP and get a new seal. I think I may try the b and q sealant in the meantime. I had such a struggle with the rear screen I'm trying to put off the front!! I used a JK rubber which was a right pain but it has settled and fits well now.

jk seal .lucky you still have a glass intact, save up for a seal , i sort of err think it needs more than a seal

To be honest, you'd be better off whipping the screen out and doing the job properly. It can only get worse and whilst the mastic will give you a reprieve, the rust will continue plus you'll have to clean off the mastic when you do come to work on it. Once the screen rot has spread, the cost will escalate enormously. It might only look like a bit of rust but once you really poke about, you can bet its a lot worse than you think. Caught now, you'll save in the long run. If you're not a welder, you could cut costs by getting the screen out yourself and getting a mate who can weld to sort it for you and perhaps assist getting screen back in.

That said, with a genuine seal its virtually a one person job to put it back in.
