Stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues again...

Hello to all, on the forum. As a Canadian reading your posts for many months ,I never thought I'd need to post. what a surprise, my wife and two boys 11 and 13, have come to Europe for 4 months of campervanning that would have ended in Oct. in U.K. where my grandmother and father were born. Just as our odyssey was unfolding, our newly purchased t25, lost its head gasket seal and now the head is done. With less than 900 km on her, previously owned 156000km.
Ummmmm, you say, me too. There is a longer story; after all, this is the "trip of a lifetime" sort of thing, but, I must leave that, and the refrain from the previous owners, for later. When I have more internet access and time, I will happily story board the whole scenario for anyone interested.
I'm in Dire Straits : I need to find a 1700 ct. head for a 1KYA/F
We are stuck in a small village north of Le Mans France wishing to be elsewhere.
Any help would be so appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
Douglas

Hey Mark et al, thanks for responses,
We are in a village 16 kms north of Le Mans, my mec is locale boy working out of a truck, and he's good, the cylinder head is not.
If any of you could bring me joy (i.e. news that my searching can end), I will buy Rob "the Sultan's of Swing" or sing the few lines I know over our mobile,
thanks for all the empathy, let's hope this week-end brings me a 1.7 cylinder head for the 1KYA/F.
the best to all across the water,
we'll be there in the fall,
Douglas

He does not speak any English, but is good at drawing pictures and thinks French cars are sh!t.
Nearest town is TOURS, based on the river about 5km from Chenonceaux.
Campsite Le Moulin Fort is 5 min down the road (English owned - very, very helpful). He knows his VW's.
I know some mechanics, but this guy I can only describe as a 'Doctor' in mechanics.
When I went to collect the van it was together as far as the head was back onto the block. I got a bit worried but he assured me it would be ready 'very soon' and gave me a beer.
It took him 'on his own' just 2.5 hrs to build the engine back up. Pump, fuel pipes, belts, cables, rocker cover, water pipes, turbo connections, air filter, oil filter, re-fil oil, re-fill cooling, electrics, power steering hydraulics, exhaust down pipe & back box. Fire up, run & check bleed radiator, and anything else i forgot
I paid him up and gave him all the tins of Banks's beer out of the van i could find! I was going to give him my pork scratchings but thought he may think the Engish as 'very' strange so thought better of it '
we've got members in france - hopefully they will be able to offer you some ideas -
wish you and your family well -

Thanks so much gentlemen,
It's Dimanche/Sunday and the entire country is on vacation or in the graveyard , so tomorrow morning I'm following up, and will post results.
Any more more ideas, would be most appreciated, any old heads on the bookshelf as well.
All the best,
Douglas

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but isn't the 1.7 KY engine usually found as an industrial engine?
If so these guys
HERE seem to do new ones at a hefty price + a surcharge until old head returned for exchange.
Cheaper ones from Germany -

No alternate transport but a possibility is looming large I may get one but must be sure of type
I've looked, and it seems the previous refit might have been a 1600cc,I am befuddled. Can you help me ascertain what the ---- I have under the lid?
The cylinder head number is 248510AMC
the block below is numbered KY066125
All will be heard!!!
Before I can order a possible replacement, I need to know, I wait on tenderhooks

I've a possible replacement for the 1700 diesel head I so sorely lack ,here in the muddle of no where France.
The previous refit might have been a 1600cc, according to repair papers from ano 2000. I am befuddled. Can you help me ascertain what the ---- I have under the lid?
The cylinder head number is 248510AMC
the block below is numbered KY066125
All will be heard!!!
If I can know what is compatible with that block-supposedly a 1700 cc one, then I could have a replacement cylinder head by end of week.
Some very knowledgeable people out there aren't sure,
I desperately need to start appreciating Europe,
cheers,
Douglas
