Material and finish for new units

Hi all. Interested in people’s personal experiences of fitting new units in their van. Looking at getting a local chippy to do mine and trying to sort through the benefits of different materials and finishes.
Currently thinking vohringer board or birch ply, although lightweight marine ply could be an option. Vohringer obviously comes with a finish but unsure about the different option for finishing any type of ply used and the different cost implications.
Would love to hear from anyone with any experience of this and who has any steer on ease/cost etc. Be great to see any pictures of any finished diy jobs for a bit of inspiration and guidance! Cheers.
