Underslung tank resto.

Decided to resto the tank, it came up well after media blasting, however has some slight pitting around the feet, so question is, can you use a rust cure before it goes for powder coating, or is better to use metal paint ?
hammerite is not popular I believe, have heard Aldi do some strong metal paint that lasts better .
Any advice greatfully received.
