Hello all,
Stupd question of the day....
What's the thingy on my engine (1.6 Jx diesel) that continues to whirr after the engine has been stopped?
I'm currently nowhere near my van to give u a better description of its location...
It's the silver thingy on the right hand side at the back of the engine bay.
It was running all last night and still on this morning.
Sorry for the vagueness of my question but I would like to know if this needs sorting ASAP and I'm currently at work and can't get " hands on"
All help gratefully recieved!
Ya Paul.

Aux coolant pump, runs for a while after ignition turned of, if the engines hot.

Re: Whirring engine noise when stopped?
The auxiliary pump(attached to rear bulkhead) should only run for a sort while after the engine has stopped..(not all night).. Sounds like a like electrical glitch....sorry can't be more helpful.

I believe it works of a coolant temperature sensor. I'm not sure where it is though. This should be in the Technical section by the way... cue the invisible hand....

Pull the plug off it for now, otherwise it might flatten the battery

Re: Whirring engine noise when stopped?
Just had a look in my lunch break and it looks like its the aux cooling pump, I've pulled the plug on it for now and will have a looksee later... Do these sensors fail that are connected to these?
