Wild camping horncastle

Post by richieadkins »

Evening all,
I have to attend a three day course in Horncastle, Lincs next week. Was thinking about camping in the van and saving myself the £20 in diesel and 2-30 hrs of commuting a day. Any suggestions of where to overnight would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks in advance Richie

Don't know any Richie - sorry - but if you get onto google earth you should be able to find something. Sometimes you can even get the orange man to let you look a suitable spots from ground level. Worked for us is Devon and Dorset a couple of weeks ago!

You should be able to find somewhere around Horncastle easily. There's the Tesco's car park in the town centre or plenty of back streets with quiet places to park.

If you head up the Boston road there's a coupple of layby's and an industrial estate, but if you fancy something more rural then just head out of Horncastle in pretty much any direction, turn off the main road and you'll be out in the wolds. Plenty of places to pull over at the side of quiet roads to spend the night.

Or you could always drive 45 minutes and spend the night at the beach at Huttoft terrace. :ok
Martin.

Diesel is an engine not a fuel.

I liked camping so much I went full time.

There's a village called Hemmingby nearby which has a road coming north out of it called Green Lane. Big wide green verges and I have seen campervans parked here overnight before. You can't miss the lane, its the main road (but very quiet) through the village.

Or google Snipe Dales which is a bit out of Horncastle, nature reserve with a carpark, though not sure if there are gates there or not. I've never noticed any but not been looking for them.
