Doctors have finally found out what's wrong with me

I've been struggling with some peculiar symptoms the last 6 months or so. Now the psychologist has at last come to a diagnosis: they call it "Syncro-swim" after the Ian M Banks' Culture novels condition of "swim":
"mentally struggling to come to terms with exactly what it is you are faced with"
They think there may be as many as several hundred cases in the UK alone!

What you have there Karl is a nasty case of "scuba diving" the symptoms of which are typically depression, anger, dejectedness and a wearisome outlook toward this type of engine conversion, as it dawns on you that this is nothing like as straightforward as anyone had led you to believe...
