Which recon engine would you recommend?

Post by mr2allotments »

Hi

I am looking to buy a recon petrol 1.9DG engine but am getting conflicting advice.

I have narrowed it down to Remtec, Vege or Ivor Searle.

Which would you recommend and why please?

I bought a Remtec 3 1/2 years ago; absolutely no problems with it in the 50,000 odd km it's done so far - runs sweet as a nut.
Quick delivery and easy to arrange collection of the old unit for the deposit refund. Can't fault the engine or the customer service I got from them.
What a long strange trip it's been

Engines from The Engine Shop?

Post by mr2allotments »

Hi

i am trying to buy a recon 1.9DG and The Engine Shop in Erith, Kent ( who advertise in the VW mags) have been recommended to me.

Their website looks good and they were very helpful on the phone , but has anyone on this forum ever bought an engine from them or had any dealing with them?

Thanks, in advance, for your advice

Most folks recommend these guys = http://www.elitevw.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They fit for free if you can get the van to them (and this helps a lot if you do have any warranty issues) :ok
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

I have a 2.1 from them

no problems to report after 10K

BUT they are a little slow in getting them done.
