Tyre aspect ratio what is it if its not marked?
Hi I have some Firestone vanhawks, dreadful in the snow, so looking at getting some traction enhancers. but the tyre doesn't have the aspect ration marked on the side wall just 185 R14C is there a way I can find out what it is by measuring?

The standard 185R14 have an aspect ratio of 82.
I suppose if you measured the height of the tyre then calculated that figure as a percentage of 185 you'll have your aspect ratio.
The problem is where to measure from/to, tyre bead to top of tread or to bottom of tread?

On a car or van tyre if the aspect ratio isn't marked it will be 80 or 82%.
It doesn't matter which (80 or82) you replace your old ones with. The two are considreded to be close enough to each other not to matter.

you will need more than good tyres when the snow arrives i think a set of snow chains would be a better bet if you want to conquer either of the two hills leading to your house bob
