Fuch Alloys
Hi, I fancy fitting some 17" Fuch to my T25 and the supplier says they will fit straight on, however, I saw a blue T25 just outside of the 8090 fence at Vanfest with these wheels on but it had no centre caps on the rears as it looked like the hub nuts stick out too far. Does anyone know if spacers are required ?

Re: Fuch Alloys
Who's the "supplier" that said they fit straight on because they're ET40 so WON'T fit straight on without longer rear studs, front bolts and at least 10mm spacers?
There's no 'r' in bought!
Re: Fuch Alloys
Midland wheels.
Is that spacers all-round ?

Thought as much!
Yes spacers all round but more importantly ask Midland Wheels if they're load rated for a T25?
Do an internet search for "MWS" before even considering handing over any money!

Re: Fuch Alloys
Why do so many wheel "specialists" list wheels for these vans with such ridiculous offsets. It's no wonder people get confused I suppose, but there's a huge amount of info on here and on Brickyard regarding what wheels are suitable. just take some time out and read through it.
What a long strange trip it's been
Re: Fuch Alloys
Would you know what width spacers by anychance ? Do you mean search the forum for MWS ? I was told by the guys at Vanfest (Midland) that they were fine for the load.

Re: Fuch Alloys
i can't vouch for midland wheels quality... not heard much good about them to be honest.
but i did ask the questions..
thay do this wheel in 7x17 et 40 and 7x17 et 20.
on the front of a t3 the et 40 with a 5 mm spacer should be fine. (may be posible to fit without the spacer)
then use an et 20 wheel on the back.
you could use et 40 all round but the et 20 would fill the rear arches better and should be fine.
they will do split offset sets..
personaly. if i were going to buy from them i would buy wheels only.
then fit someting like a 225 50 17 tyre
a few reasons.
you can get this size in a 98 load rating.
there would be enough "tyre" to offer some rim protection. (get back to this in a mo)
the 225 50 17 is more or less perfect for overall rolling size
from what i can tell the guys at midland wheel are quite willing to sell wheels that are to be fitted to vans with tyres that dont suit the loads..
this is up to them and between them and a buyer.
hence why i would recomend getting tyres yourself. mytyres etc..
the reason i made a note on "rim protection.." alot of newer cheap alloy wheels are not very strong..
this should change soon as the tax situation for non eu wheels (other things ????) is changing.
so more eu made "better quality" wheels should be on the market.
that said.. fitting a tyre that suits its use helps alot !
very low profile tyres have less give and thus there is more chance of damage.
i admit i quite liked the look of this rim.. and as you can tell ive looked into fitting them.
with care they could be fitted without problems hopefully.

WHY T3's.... because they are just so adictive, and having one just aint enough
Re: Fuch Alloys
Thanks for the info, very helpful. I shall look into this as I really like the look of the matt ones they had at the show . They did suggest a 205/40 tyre when I asked about them but that would be too small and painful .
Re: Fuch Alloys
Well, I went for it and ordered 7x17 in matt finish from Midland Wheels with 205/55/17 tyres on. These came supplied with new nuts and studs and arrived the next day. Fitting wise they have gone straight on with no problems or spacers needed, sliding door opens as usual and they look fantastic. I will try and put some pics up but I'm not too good at that sort of thing.

Re: Fuch Alloys
When you say they fitted straight on......what nuts and bolts were supplied by MWS...radius or tapered?
They really should be spaced out at least 10mm with that offset to be honest.
Also what's the load rating of the tyres they've supplied because 205/55/17's are usually 91 load rating which isn't high enough for a T25?

Re: Fuch Alloys
I think the nuts and studs were radius but didn't really take much notice as a mechanic friend came round and fitted them for me while I fed him cups of tea ( my jack is knackered) . Spacers would make the rear wheels foul the side door plus they look just fine where they are. Will look at the load rating later when home.

Its not for looks that you have to fit the spacers, its to get the ET correct, if you dont and the ET is way out you will wreck the wheel bearings and make it handle like a dogs dinner.
I defo wouldnt use tyres that arent rated at least 97.
Be great to see what it looks like

Ask your mechanic how many threads were showing through the bolt holes because the alloys are approx 10mm thicker than a steel wheel which means there's 10mm less thread on the wheel bolts and rear studs so longer rear studs and front bolts should be used.
If they were tapered it is possible to fit without the longer studs and bolts because the tapered nuts/bolts fit into the wheel further.
By fitting 10mm spacers to bring the ET down to 30 the wheels will not catch the slider.
Remember standard 6X14 VW alloys are ET30 and they're nowhere near the sliding door.

Haaww... you had someone fit stuff to your van ...and couldn't be bothered to find out if it will wreck your suspension and possibly kill someone?

Re: Fuch Alloys
Yeah i was quite happy for my friendly mechanic mate to fit the wheels and new suitably long enough studs while i made the tea and kept my non trained eye on what he did. They tyres are suitably load rated and the wheels with an ET of 40 should be good enough if the Brickyard info is to be trusted ("So, in my eyes if you are fitting alternative wheels you should be aiming for anywhere between ET 30 and ET 39. ")
I cant really see a problem but if however it all goes wrong i will let you say you told me so .
