Re: door cards
Well if you have door cards as flat, vinyl-covered boards (hardboard or plywood) you'll develop sciatica or dead leg in no time. Highly recommend you pad them. Most places that sell fabric on rolls stock 'quilting' for this purpose then glue vinyl on back perhaps.

if your local to sandbach martrim sell 3mm scrim which is 3mm foam w3ith a fabric covering glue that on then glue the cover your using on top of that then either staple the cover down or use high temp contact adhesive to glue it down if your local to me i can do them for you if your having problems.

Re: door cards
Use foam not wadding as when things like the winder handles or when u drill or put the screws in for speakers etc it bunches up into a nice knot...
Stick foam on first, spray foam and back of vinyl ,apply OVERSIZED by lots sheet of vinyl from the centre and push out to edges. Use 3mm staples from behind to tack. Tack longest length first and start from the centre.
Corners is most awkward but cut only after u have done the first staple and mark and then cut the folds for it to be perfect...
And jus to let ya know I learnt this from a pro on the course I'm on at the mo and my first efforts blew away what I though had been good before!!!
Good Luck, take ya time enjoy and be proud of it and dont point out any errors!!!
