Sliding door not springing open

Post by purplecrocs »

My sliding door is getting difficult to open, when you turn the handle the door doesnt seem to want to spring outwards onto its runners like it used to and you have to pull it around a bit to get it to do so... is there something I can adjust, or is something knackered?

Thanks

Mine was the same. The swing hinge thing in the slider was caked up with old grease and nearly seized. Take off the removable panel at the back of the sliding door which covers the runner, then unbolt the mechanism from the sliding door (the bit with the wheel on which fits in the runner) you have to remove the sliders door card to get at one of the bolts on the inside.

The pivoting section is held together with one nut which sits on top of a cam, undo this and remove the cam then try and seperate the two halves (mine was quite hard to do) give it a good greasing and reassemble. Made loads of difference to mine and it now closes really easily.
