What blasting abrasive do you use? And where do you get it?

I bought one of those ALDI compressor and shot blasters a few weeks ago and haven't been too impressed with the Aluminum Oxide stuff that came with it. Doesn't cut through paint, let alone corrosion. What blasting media is best for rust removal and where do you buy it from?

I use kiln dried sand or a mix of sand and oxide as the sand is easily obtainable at builders merchants. The thing to bear in mind is if the medium is too coarse you get less particles coming out of the gun which is less effective. If you do use sand make sure you have a good face mask you dont want to breath in the silica from the sand or the aluminium oxides either.
