1Y Diesel fuel pump wiring help

Post by The G »

Hi Guys,
I am installing a 1Y engine in my T25 after the old 1.6D gave up.
Can any one ID the wires on the pics below.
I now the current labels are wrong.
Image
The pic below isn't my pump but it is the same and shows the wires more clearly.

I think the top one with the yellow wire (or A) is the preheater (cold start) but what are the other two ?
I have also heard a rumor that the bottom one (C) may be for an immobiliser and is hiding the cut off solenoid in witch you have to carefully smash off to reveal the solenoid terminal ?? I don't hold truth to this.
Any help
Thank you

Its is correct break off the small plastic box imobiliser then you can wire up the fuel solonoid.I installed a 1Y with a bosch injection pump and it works Ignore the others but you could wire up the advance cold start solonoid marked A .

On the bottom picture you havent labelled the fuel injection solenoid. Theres a big black wire going to it about three centimetres to the left of A.

This is the only wire that needs connecting. The others (A,B&C) are redundant although as said, you can wire up A.

However, you would probably want to connect the cold start lever cable which replaces the solenoid that A attaches to.

It feels a bit funny leaving the wires flapping about - but i ran two 1Y's like this for ages.

Im not sure what the wires at B are - but possibly for some advance timing from an ECU. Ideally you would have a pump without this connection but i never struggled with it. Might be worth taking it out and seeing whats in it - because this is normally where you stick the dial test indicator to setup the pump timing.

I was told C was for an imobiliser - but not a very good one.

i believe the wires between the injector pipes are for diagnostic purposes on the original car, so you can check pump timing via the OBD port rather than with a dial gauge. dont worry about them. only wire to connect is diesel stop solenoid, directly above where the pipes come out. connect your original cold start/timing advance cable to new pump, between pump and head at timing belt end after removing electrically operated cable.

Regarding the injection pump timing wire connection for the 1Y .Any ideas if this could be used with a analogue or digital meter to check or adjust the timing.
