Re: original wheels.
I think Syncros came with 14 x 6J steels rather than 5.5J, not sure if it was standard or an option (or I might have dreamt it )
Might be worth checking with Syncrospares for a set, Irish Keet fitted a set a bit back with 205 tyres. I had some 215R14 on 6J rims when I got my van, the previous owner used them as Summer tyres, but it was a bit heavy to park

What a long strange trip it's been

Re: original wheels.
you can fit 205s on any of our rims as standard, any bigger than that and you are into modification territory and should advise insurer, any good tyre supply place will advise as to what fits, but I doubt you'll find any tyres properly rated for our weight outside the normal sizes other than 195s, check the label on the nearside door pillar for correct tyre size and pressure information

I heard that too ..... and its part number 251 601 027 6J x 14H2 ET30 and I may stand to be corrected but I think they are the wheel with the round hole in the middle and not the standard hole

My van had 215 R14 C tyres on it when I bought it. Steering is quite heavy but I've not known any different (yet) and you get used to it pretty quickly. I'm changing to 16" alloys as soon as I get them back from the machine shop. HTH
