front fogs
Hi does anyone know how to wire in front fog lights. I dont have a clue and want to try it myself rather than get someone to do it. Cheers steve

do you have a three position switch for your rear fogs?
or simply does it click twice when you turn them on?

1st position is your fronts.
Now you can either get another switch (which I have) and fit it in the spare above the hazard and fog running the wires to the front fogs. (I can turn them off leaving the rear on)
or you might be able to run the wires from the three pos switch to the fogs. But this way the fogs come on with the rear
Powers all there at the 3 pos switch and it's all fused up

thanks for that i will give it a go. If i go for another switch where will i run the power from etc. steve

powers all there at the fog switch, connectors and everything, all fused up

take off the dash pod and see
the fuse is already there it's No 6 on your board (late '86 on)

Mentioned this in another thread but my spots will double up as fogs as I've mounted them close to the bumper

In the diagram, the idea is to fit an additional 3 position switch so they can be off, routed to main beam circuit, OR to fog light/switch circuit. The circuit simply supplies the low-tension (for want of a better word) to the relay operating the fogs/spots. In any event they will only operate if on full beam OR when fog switch is on but not both. That way in fog I can switch to sidelights and fogs which would still comply as far as I can see. I'd be showing white lights to front but be able to see where I'm going. I can also switch off the spots when they're simply not needed.
Be handy to draw whole circuit but AngeloEVS probably quicker at it than me.

Spot lamps cannot double as fog lamps as the beam pattern is completely different; A fog lamp gives a flat diffused pattern in order not reflect off water droplets in fog or falling snow and primarily illuminate the foreground when travelling slowly.
Spot lamps give a sharp focused beam in order to augment headlights, usually on main beam and are used for high speed night driving.

Driving lamps augment main beam & should either extinguish when headlights are dipped or should be permanently angled downwards. Fog lamps should ideally be mounted under the bumper to cut below fog. Spot lamps illuminate just in front of vehicle within dipped headlamp area. Nearside lamp to pick out the kerb & offside lamp to illuninate in front of the driver.
