Pop top canvas cleaning/ proofing

Evening all. Does anyone use any product to clean their canvas? Or has anyone used something to waterproof it? I spoke to a chap who said the only stuff to clean it with is water and that they are ready proofed and should not be interfered with. Just wondering, what with all the sprays available for clothes. Thanks!

Go along to a camping shop they will be able to advise you , I have a high top so no need for it !

Dont be tempted to use detergents or stuff like it cos while your canvas will look clean it wont be waterproof anymore AND waterproofing chemicals wont take
you will have a clean canvas with the water resistant qualities of a bath towel.
so be warned.

Thanks for that! There is no replacement for experience and wisdom! Forewarned is forearmed. Was toss up for high top but 50mm lower, the van fits nicely in the garage! Thanks again.

Hi! Actually in Trevor. Don't think I recognise your van, but probably waved at you at some time. Kids might know, they are very funbox (don't like wedge or brick but can't think of a better name) orientated. Also use Steve Shaw.
