Wheel hup nut
Anyone have any idea what size socket i need for the wheel hub nut on the rear of an early westfalia, ive got to take it of to put some longer studs in the hub. I have tried a wrench but the thing is stuck tight so think i'll have to bite the bullet and buy the right socket before i round it off.
Thanks
Thanks

The tools are expensive. will cost you 50 quid for the socket and a 3 foot bar. Borrow if you can, be cheeky and get your local garage to do it. They will have a 4 or 5 foot bar which makes it easy.

I got a 1" drive socket and 2' Tommy bar for £16, it's been used a number of times so it can't be that bad.
Shop around.

Re: Wheel hup nut
thats a good buy, the sockets seem to be around 15 quid, it's the bar that costs the money.

Use this, its 10 squid from VWheritage.
Just whack it with a big hammer...careful doing it up though it can smash your bearings if you keep hitting it.

Re: Wheel hup nut
Me and syncroswede borrowed a 4 foot long torque wrench, the force needed to do the nut up was not much more than a gentle leaning on.
I have been trying to remember where that tool above came from. Thanks for the reminder.
Simon.
