tyre pressures
would it be possible to run on lower pressures than 49rear and 39front with safety odin

Hi odin, and welcome to the forum....
from what i've read on here most tend to run higher pressures than you've suggested!
Depends on size of wheels (standard or modified) and tyres I guess. I run standard C rated tyres, wheel & suspension, and my tyres are 37 front and 47 back, and am happy with the set up.
Then again I'm a slow driver who takes care in the wet and uses a smooth technique.

If your tyres are standard sizes it's probably best to go with the standard pressures, but there's a handy formula for working out pressures for other sizes here http://wiki.club8090.co.uk/index.php/Ge ... ssure_calc which came in very useful when I changed to wider tyres.

odin, it would be helpful if you told us what T25 you own. Transporters & Caravelles were fitted with different tyre sizes by VW & the the weight ratings are not the same. Also, air cooled T25s run on higher tyre pressures than water cooled.

Thanks for the replies, the reason I ask about the tyre pressures is because I have lowered the suspension with JK springs and shocks, and finding the ride is much harder. I wanted to find out if there is a typre pressure more suited to the new suspension set up.

One of the reasons I have stayed with standard suspension. A bit of lean on the odd roundabout or sharp corner keeps up my concentration levels Plus I enjoy the soft floating ride original settings and low-ish type pressure produces...providing you don't push too hard. And remember you are driving a twenty plus years, two plus tonnes camper van.

Soft tyres won't help the ride, but it will make the steering heavy and your fuel consumption goes up so no help there.
Pity you didn't see the Brickyard AVO springs They offer a better ride... combined with the Bilstein shocks, I understand the ride is improved but still harsh compared to stock.
I think 40mm is a good compromise.

to kevtherev my wife and i both in our earley 70s bought the van 4 years ago and luv it one morning while touring scotland at six in the morning my wife fell off the step on to ground me in underpants trying to lift her she was shaken but not hurt ense the not thought out lowering it was not for zipping around but for height ense tyre qustion it was hard work for nothing thanks for your reply odin

With the potholes around me, ride comfort is more important than lowering van.Am too old now for such trendiness.
If the missus has trouble with ride height you can get it converted to citroen style suspension so that it drops to the floor when left with engine off!
My Dad had Citroens and they were bloody awful.
Standard pressures for me as I float slowly about watching the flowers grow.
