Help:- Clutch/Gearbox probs >

Post by phredd »

Can anyone give advice or help with my little problem ?

I have a T25 w/b 1900 DG engine.

On short journey and around town on local runs she runs fine however on a longer run I have problems changing gear. The gear shift becomes very stiff in all gears when changing either up or down.
It only seems to happen on a long run.

Clutch plate is fairly new, Oil level in gearbox is OK and clean. Dont know where else to look.

Can anyone point me in the right direction . ?

Phredd.

I had this badly on my old camper, so much that at one point it jammed in 4th which made for interesting driving!
It was helped dramatically by cleaning out the universal joint, cleaning out the boots and regreasing.
To do the job properly you should replace all the boots and bushes before your gear rods get worn down due to accumulation of muck in the connections and slide points.

This is also a feature of my velle, though to a lesser extent, and I know the boots need doing on that!

just wondering as I have to sort out m linkages and I've got a new box to put in - any one got any photos of the whole linkage out or what it looks like when underneath. Its one of those many jobs that just look alien if you compare Haynes/Bentley to the real thing.

Without tipping the van over its difficult to take a pic of the whole linkage while still attached, the best way is to get it jacked up, safely, and get under there and explore, you will see all the rubber boots, (if the boots are slightly saggy jam you finger in there and feel the amount of grit that is in the grease in there- if there is grease in there) various places from beginning to end, if you do decide to drop the whole linkage you will need to mark exactly where the two splined ends go together, this will be important to putting it back together and finding your gears again.
