MPG on LPG?

I was concerned about our average of 19mpg on lpg, but this now sounds reasonable for the mixed type of driving we do. Not sure exactly what type of engine our van has, a 1985 hightop with a 1.9 watercooled enngine. The lpg conversion is quite old but I dont have any documentaion for it. I'm wondering how important an issue servicing of lpg systems is.

Re: MPG on LPG?
Mrs Hutch drives a 2litre new beetle converted to LPG... And not even sequential injection, just shove it in the intake manifold version...
Starts on petrol and runs rough, smooth as silk on gas..
Petrol MPG about 18mpg, GAS over 35mpg..
all to do with the octane and having the engine set up to run on gas, if the timing is set up to always expect gas then you won't get the lower MPG readings. But it runs very thirsty on petrol.
