Here goes..yet again the love/hate relationship with me 84 caravelle!MOT tomoro..at work today girl asks why i drive the van as i live quite close by..yes i could walk it but i LOVE my van..you all understand..I tell her..you gotta take advantage and drive it whilst its not broken!!(jokingly!)This afternoon was spent tidying and sorting small jobs for tomorrows
MOT..."WHILE I'M HERE...." I thought...belt needs tightened..been sqeeling a bit on start -up...Found Alternater to be literally hanging on by the fingertips...very loose..belt very slack..so hey-ho sorted and tightened plus new belt..Now no start..It was then i shook the fists...Is it just crap battery now cos alternater was loose..It seems to rotate v .slow but no dice..just wondered if theres anything else..I mean whilst it has squeeled for last two weeks..it has started ok..this is the hate bit..so yes tomorow 6am i will walk to work and MOT seems a no show..goodbye £30.50 ..sorry..jus thought i'd share..I'll be poorer but in love again by the weekend..jonny

Sounds like you just need to take your battery out and stick it on trickle charge overnight. That is unless its old, in which case just replace it. This can and does happen to any vehicle so dont get too downhearted about it. Sh!t buzz about missing the MOT though.

I agree, your loose belt was probably not charging the battery for the last couple of weeks ~ does your alternator light work on the dash? Bummer about the MOT..
