What is this radiator?

Post by Xenolith05 »

Hi all,
I have a 04/1985 T25 with 2.1DJ WBX on a Pierburg Carburettor. It may have had an engine swap at some point before my ownership, possibly 1.9DG.
I drained the coolant so that I could flush, fill, and bleed the system because I think it has incorrect antifreeze in it and may have a ‘dalek’ cap problem.
The radiator bleed screw is a 13mm bolt head, and it looks like someone has over tightened it previously, causing it to turn the captive nut inside.
i’m confused because I thought that the T25 radiators with plastic sides and aluminium core normally come in two sizes, 34mm and 42mm. The one I’ve taken out which has a VW Audi stamp on it, has a 64mm core measured across from the front of the fins to the back of the fins. The fan cowling, plugs, inlets and outlets etc. are all in the correct places.
Does any one know anything about this size core? Is it standard?

Thanks for any info…

More info needed. RHD or LHD? Imported vehicle? Could be a hot climate special part but I have no access to ETKA/ETOS to do a deep dive.
