AFN TDI Obd scanner

Post by fh9977 »

Hi, would anyone be able to recommend an OBD device I can connect to the port of an ATF TDI engine to read live data? Is it possible to have a bluetooth scanner and phone app, or just wired versions are available?

Thanks

If it is the 'usual' 16 pin eobd / eobd connector, then you can get cheap and cheerful bluetooth versions of the old fashioned ELM interfaces.
Ten a penny on ebay and other auction sites.

As for software - assuming you are only doing diagnostics and reading sensors,
You can use something like "Torque Pro" on your mobile device.

I use an android phone with modestly good results.
And far cheaper than most plug in diagnostic tools.

I second that. I have a £6 ish bluetooth  dongle from Ebay  and use torque pro app on an old android and I can keep an eye on all sorts of things that would otherwise remain a mystery.

That is the same as the two that I have.
One in the car...
And a spare at work.

I have a 2005 Vectra and Vauxcom diagnostic software.
The ELM dongle shown was able to display an injector No1 fault that the Vauxhall specific software did not detect.
