Sliding door latch

Post by pleasestartnow »

Hi all,

Just a quick question really. My sliding door latch keeps unlatching, particularly if going around a roundabout at speed or along bumpy roads. Even if the door is on a locked position One of the screw is missing from the latching mechanism on the sliding door so that's the problem.

But, I'm just wondering is there any way to permanently keep the sliding door closed, or from unlatching itself I til I get the screw when I return after holidays. Driving around Scotland is becoming less fun when I am watching for the door to open and the dogs to jump out

I don't have my van here so can't test it,
but how about a small G-clamp in the top-runner? to stop it rolling back

Oh that’s a good idea,I will give it a go. I found some bungee cord in the back of a cupboard so I just used that there in a test run and it seemed to work as well. Just tied the upper roller to the passenger headrest.
