When I put one in my van about 10 years ago I got a standard dash switch for a heated rear screen and fitted it using some piggy back connectors at the radiator switch (fitted in original rubber boot) and some 2 core cable (so double insulated too). Super simple and all looks original with no need to drill dash etc. If I remember correctly I had to fit an earth to make the warning light on the switch work.
Basically by doing it this way all you are really doing is bridging the switch from inside the cab if you need to.
