No output from Alternator to rev counter

Post by Haro1972 »

Been struggling with this one for a while .Had the alternator re-conditioned before we went off on holiday hooked it up no output to the rev counter ,at this point too late to get a new one . Easy solution I’ll buy a new one but unfortunately a JX 90 amp doesn’t fit a 1Y engine has been fitted with a modified bracket for the alternator ,anyone seen this before there is no code on the alternator to identify it all I know is it’s a Bosch .

My rev counter is fed from the negative pin on the coil. Not sure what the alternator has to with that signal. Could be a workaround for you though.

No coil on a diesel :D They use a tapping from one of the windings in the alternator for a tacho signal.
