Moped Racks for VW T25 Campers

Post by JamieQPR »

Hi there.

I want to start taking my moped with me on road trips but I cant seem to find a rack to carry it on the back of my T25. The moped will weigh about 115 kgs.

I've seen this on Amazon

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087Z4H148/ ... _lig_dp_it

Would it work do you think?

Has anybody got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Motorbike Racks (davecooper.co.uk)

I used one from here for yrs, Trail bikes, Trial bikes and even a little PW for my lad.

I had to adapt the 'slots' where the wheels went depending on how big they were, only disadvantage I found was lifting the bike on and off if I was on my own as you put the front wheel in then swing the back round and it drops in.

As to weight limits etc I have no idea but I'm sure someone on here will soon let you know.

I believe nose weight is maximum 75 Kilos.
Unless you intend to modify and strengthen l suggest a smaller trailer. Or front wheel off and pop it inside.

Ive forgotten about those! I used one for trial riding, too. Simple set up...once you master the knack of loading and unloading.

Thanks.

I spoke to Dave Cooper. He has a solution, no problem. I need to have a flange tow bar fitted though, & that's proving difficult. A couple of places have told me they cant fit/dont make them for T25s. Do you know if that is true?

Not sure. What is a flange tow bar? And what type/make of moped is it?
My tow bar slots inside the rear chassis and is held by two bolts either side. It could easily be beefed up with extra load plates and bolts. Then using a heavy duty hitch ball for a Dave Cooper version.

Btw, most of my off-road 200-250cc race bikes
weighed in around 120kgs. That's a 'lumpy' moped at 115kgs.

I have a towbar, similar to the one Just Kampers sell, which by my understanding is flange type, fits between the bumper irons.  It's yours for free if you want it and can figure a way of getting it depending on where you are?
