Are belts to water pump on AAZ fitted correctly?

Post by Middle29 »

I have a mechanic doing some work and has fit belts to my AAZ in my van. He checked with Brickwerks and did his own research and has fitted belts same as the image below but he is concerned as water pump belt was fitted the opposite way around when I took it in.
He's not sure if it was a mistake by someone previous or if there could be a reason for doing it. Apparently the previous /wrong way made more contact to the pulley but both ways seem to work. Any insights appreciated.

AFAIK there were some CCW turning coolant pumps on Skoda motors, but the CW is the most common.

Thanks for this - I was surprised it worked in reverse. I did a long drive yesterday and temp gauge seems to settle at a lower temp than it used to.
