Valve Springs

Post by Mick.source »

Well i finally found the problem with my 1986 westfalia t25 jx camper, which had a rough idle and smoked under load, after removing the head i found two  broken valve springs one inlet and one exhaust, i converted the head to a JR part number 068103373T. Does anybody know what springs i can use and where to get them from they are inner and outer springs, thanks.

Different part number to yours but if you click on the 1980s mk2 Golf's you will see your engine code.

I have had springs fail on a boat engine - the cause was uneven seating surface that wasn't evident when covered with black oil. In this case - who knows, possibly poor quality springs to begin with.

I'd say to replace all the springs, regardless, especially the unbroken ones where the other spring has broken - the remaining unbroken spring would probably have been over-stressed.

Trying to replace all the springs i can get the outer spring 028 109 623 A but finding it difficult to find the inner spring 028 109 633 A, does any body know if you can replace the double spring, (inner and outer) with a single heavier duty spring this would also prevent spring binding.
Or does anybody know of alternative part numbers for the double springs?

I think your biggest problem is using a JR head. Looks like they were made for the American market. You could ask on samba to see if there are any suppliers in the
Would it not be easier to put another jx head on though?
