Intermittent wiper fluid pump squirting

Post by aknapper »

87 DG WBX Komet high top - Anyone have a problem getting the wiper fluid pump to spray?  The pump works fine - just removed it and tested it.  No blockages in the lines or nozzles.  It does not automatically squirt when I pull back the wiper lever.  Definitely no spray if the wipers are not on but is very intermittent and I have to jiggle and ease the lever back and forth til I hear the pump working...
I've had the van for 10 years now and it's this year that the intermittent spraying seems to have developed.  I can only think that there is an issue on the steering column.  Any thoughts?   Going in for the MOT tomorrow and this is my only concern...   thanks Andrew

worth giving the contacts on the wiper stalk a spray with contact cleaner- maybe a spider egg sack been laid in there

my VW mechanic thought alone similar lines when I told him when I brought the van in for it's MOT on friday.  He'd obv done some tightening up on the stalk as it is now crisp on squirting.  Job sorted!
