Choke pull down unit . Link please.

Post by jrt »

As the title, has anyone bought a pull down unit recently and got a link. They seem to be out of stock everywhere.

I have the Brosol alternative version available. Can't understand why it is so expensive compared to original 2E unit. But l'm willing to sell for a reasonable offer if urgently needed.
I suggest you read description on Brickwerks. It is not a straightforward replacement.

Not sure what you mean, Stuart. Both the Brosal and the JP Group versions are a straightforward swap. I've fitted loads, just that they're out of stock atm, and so am I, just as the wife buys a new-to-her van that needs one (it's auto so stalling from cold is a PITA, then hot idle is too high - clunk!)

Thanks for the reply.
I will let ajsimmo have first dibs on it as I have had a message back from Lee @ T2 Five who is certain he has one for me. I ‘m waiting for a coil too so I’m not going anywhere in the van at the moment!
If it goes breasticles up and I don’t get one I’ll put another wanted ad up later but I should be ok.
Sorry for the late reply I decided to go for an early wander in the Peak District.

I got mine from Gower and Lee about a month ago.
It's the 2 port version but fits and works exactly the same. You just have to put a bung over the spare port (they supply this).

Thanks, I’ve emailed them to see availability just in case.
Did you have to take the carb’ off to replace it or can it be done in situ?
David.

I did it with it off as was refurbing the carb. I reckon it could be done with it on but it would be really fiddley.

Also if you don't know already it needs to be set up, it's not just a straight fit and forget part. If you watch James Akers you tube video it's explains it well on there how to do it, it's pretty straightforward.

I’ve only seen the strip down/ rebuild video’s. Is it a case of setting the choke gap afterwards or more complicated?

Yeah that's it, just the choke gap. You set it with the allen screw at the end. 2.5mm for the late carb or 3mm for the early I belive.

Decided to get new from Gower and Lee they still have some in stock. As above comes with a blank for the extra port.
A breaker offered me one off a van but i didn’t want to pay £100 for what could be a 40 year old part !!!
