Starter issues

Post by Freddievan »

I went to start the van a couple of weeks ago and there was nothing but a "click".  I thought the battery was totally flat.  I tried it again and the engine started straight away.  This is now happening intermittently and sometimes I have 3 or 4 attempts before the ignition kicks in.  Any ideas?

The obvious thoughts are -
Ignition switch is often a prime suspect,

Followed by ensuring that your wires and connectors to the starter are clean and securely fitted.

Then there is obviously ensuring that the gearbox to body earth wire / braid is also clean and securely fitted.

Maybe one day I might get it finished

Thanks!  Will get that checked.

And check the trigger wire to the solenoid, often really corroded.
